hello all. i figured after ger's post that i really had to do something.
for a start. i'm back. been back for 3 months though technically i was in shanghai for 2 of those 3 months. and before time decides to start galloping before and away from me, i figure that we should all meet up. i'm leaving for Ann Arbor on 27th Aug. so anytime before that would be nice. i'd really want to meet up with ALL of you. the guys are only free on weekends, yes?
as for travelling, i used to do so much of that. but lately i've gotten lazy. and i'd very much enjoy a beach getaway for just 3 days with nothing but sun sea and sand. the idea of just packing my bags for a trip is enough of a put off. thing is, i've been packing and unpacking and packing again. not fun. and i'm about to start packing to go back. where did my summer go?
we MUST must MEET UP OKAY?
i dunno whether you people are feeling this, but i'm starting to feel a little displaced in singapore. it's a little unnerving. i mean, this is home. supposedly. a nd it's been about the same most of my life. and this time coming home was just different. and the same. the same blind trend-following. witnessing the mannequins decked out in the latest fashion spin-off from some other country. different buildings literally popping out from nowhere. see, i didn't see them being built. and walking somewhere to realise the bus stop just went and walked somewhere else. oh, and turning around to see some variety of angmoh walking about. that's pretty amazing too. 19% of our resident population is a foreigner. oh, and i forget to mention the reliable SPG hanging like an ornament.
but i shan't be evil. so lately, i've taken to walking about the heartlands. getting a little sticky. kinda fun really. i'd even go to the zoo if not for the mosquitoes. best to be taking some pictures too! before them buildings decide to crumble in a few months.
this blog is so dead, its deader than..... dead.
okie forgive my previous sentence. actually i havent much to blog about, but i saw the date of the last post by kw (28 MAY OMG ITS JULY NOW) and like everyone else -cough- i just wanted to wait for someone, anyone to post something but at this rate it seems that we're going to collect more cobwebs so i decided to type some rubbish to keep this, uh, alive.
ANYWAYYYYYY c'mon!! i'm sure those of you who have been studying overseas have loads to say after 1 year of another culture!!! (or at the very least, you could state how much you miss your beloved jc classmates bwahahaha) and some of us have been travelling after our exams in boring old sg - you know who you are - so we should have pretty interesting blog posts, right? plus i also happen to know that the guys have been planning some guys' trip to aussie at the end of the year after ord-ing! C'MON!! BLOG ABOUT IT!!!! our tagboard isnt so dead so i know pple have been popping in hoping for an update...
hopefully i shall start the ball rolling after so long.. well i came back to sg last week after travelling for 2 months. (yes, it has been this long since the hols started - i cant believe it) i left the day after the jc co syf judging (did i plan this on purpose? YOU BET. and hcco got gold with honours yet again!!! BEST JC CO if i say so myself - everyone was raving about them, and by everyone i mean the audience in the concert hall, not just us seniors) for montreal, stuttgart, then montreal again. which reminds me - DON'T FLY BRITISH AIRWAYS I'M TELLING YOU. they have a really screwed up baggage policy. according to the website since i was flying to canada i should be allowed 2 bags but i was only allowed to check in ONEoneONE piece at changi. i was allowed to check in 2 pieces when flying back to sg - its the same damned route (sg-heathrow-montreal and reverse) so dont ask me what's the difference.
and if you transit at heathrow (no matter which airline) you're only allowed ONEONEONE lousy piece of hand carry (ask damian - he was pretty pissed off too). most airlines wont count those ladies' purses as a piece but heathrow does. so for those who plan to transit at heathrow in future: DON'T. i was there for 24 hrs in all (12 hrs transit both ways). nearly died of boredom, plus they had zero trolleys in the departure hall - carrying a heavy, fat bag? too bad. have fun. plus i marvel at their baggage handling. my ONLY bag was delayed on my trip there, and despite me labelling my luggage as "fragile" the handle of my SAMSONITE bag broke, together with a bottle of facial wash in the bag. &*^%$#
besides the baggage rubbish at the start and end of my trip, the rest of it was pretty great. well, besides the one sickening moment in stuttgart where i realised that i didnt want to return for student exchange in germany anymore. (also related to my screwed up german grade this semester i guess) i wont say much else (since i already have problems keeping my own blog updated about my travels) but yea - visit montreal and new york if you can - its great!! (besides the looooong queues and tighter security in NY)
okie i'd stop here and hope for more updates =)
