the one with the farewell parties

Hello one and all, and all the lost souls who happened to chance upon this god-forsaken blog!!!!!

I have been tasked with being the person to bring you the latest news... on the fact that we are going to have a series of FAREWELL PARTIES for certain members of 04S71, who you may (or may not) know, are going away to foreign lands to further their studies...
And due to the unfortunate fact that there appears to be a big gap in the leaving dates of those going to the US and the UK, we are unfortunately, forced to organise two parties.

The FIRST party is going to be held for the people leaving for America in August, which include, Xiaoyan, Debra and Huilin.
It is tentatively planned to be held either on the 5th/9th/12th of August. Those who are free please inform you PW group leaders, or tag here. Well, just let someone know that you are free then, ASAP, because, believe or not, we are just a few days away from the month of August...
So REALLY, we don't have much time, if we are even serious about doing a reasonable farewell in the first place.
Destination should be Xiaoyan's house. Time 6 pm. The planning committee has decided that we should do a pot luck thing... so you can bring any food you want.
Those wanting to cook at Xiaoyan's house may do so, but please be there latest 4 pm that day.
More details would be posted and disseminated later.

Erm, this is a small note to those who were present on the day when the idea for the farewells were mooted....
Please message your PW group mates to get a confirmation that they recieved the news, plus whether they are free on those days. Yeah.

Anyone free and interested in helping to organise these farewells, can tag on the blog, or let me know. Hurhur.

That's all. More details will come (hopefully).
Tata~!

yay!

hello! oops. i haven blogged like in ages bud at least now i managed d lil effort to do it! haha. oh i haf wid me like shocking n unexpected n erms unbelievable (?) announcement!..... haha let's haf a SENTOSA outing!!!! haha. okie okie? lol. eh yar sunset bay closed down. bud erms we can go palawan? haha d closet vball pro wants 2 play!!! haha n i will nt hide under my pink umbrella n sit under d tree. lol. so can d sentosa i/c pls pls pls organise 1? lol. okies. dats all 4 now. everybody take care. seeya soon! tata (:

the blog moves on...

Aiyoh lileng why you lidat...haha i vaguely remember mr wong saying something about that tabula rasa, which is from that descartes guy right? Cos i remember alex was busy explaining the thesis anti-thesis thingey in his usual manner...haha...

Anyway, to make things clearer, 8 people went back on college day, which includes mi hanjie anthon shinwei suan huilin char and debs. But i guess quite a number of people had plans for the evening so we didn't really go anywhere after that...haha we didn't get to play vball at the class bench too!haiz!haha...oh and the night cycling didn't materialise, so...erm like what all of us always say, lets have an outing soon??? Ok i have just joined the group of people who are NATO. =P

But i think it'll be quite hard to have a sentosa outing anymore...cos I read the new paper today and it's confirmed that the stall at sunset bay has closed down. Apparently business wasn't good, and they decided to move to another place like east coast or changi or wateva place at the end of the year. I'm thinking of having a sentosa outing next sunday, on the 30th of july, cos i think they shifted to tanjong beach temporarily for about 3 months. But then...I've never been there before so we might have to explore abit and risk getting 'holland"! (lost in army lingo) At most we can go back to siloso beach and try to find back those precious memories there? =)

Oh and damian i think you can go ahead with your compilation!Jiayou in compiling the list!Haha...i'm sure most of us wouldn't mind...but you can ask for everyone's permission individually and at the same time, find out where everyone's headed to!What a great idea...haha...if not ah, your compilation will end up like erm...the photos that were supposed to be compiled...

Kk i think i better stop here...before i offend anyone with my not-very-indirect comments...cya'll!

just to keep the blog moving

hey folks! i've been missing for a few days at OBS... gathered from the photo that not many pple attended the ceremony... or is it most of the pple disappeared once they had their few seconds of air time on stage? oh oh and did the night cycling materialise??

hee i just came back from OBS 2 days ago... considering that this is my dunno how many time on ubin and 3rd time at OBS, i must say that the island of Pulau Ubin still has its magic. of course it's not very possible in the real world, but once u are on that western part of the island, u seem to be pumped up with altruism and the desire to stretch urself both physically and mentally (at least that was wat happened to me). Most importantly, everybody is just so so so supportive of each other.

was suppose to be able to derive many lessons that can be applied to my future career, but my brain has kinda lost its elasticity and malleability to stretch and bend and find connections between seemingly unrelated events. however, i did take away something in general (which i think is quite applicable to all of us since we're embarking on a new phase in our lives), which is to approach everything with an open mind and not let past experiences cloud ur objectivity. remember the concept of tabula rasa from philosphy in GP? (gosh dear mr wong must be so proud that i paid attention! haha) Yeah start everything afresh, like a blank sheet of paper! as we all move on into uni, we might have to start the process of making new friends all over again. though many pple say that u'll never find true friends in uni, i say let's cling on to a bit more hope and optimism and openess!

forgive me if u guys and gals out there want to disagree... this is one person who is somewhat still stuck in the fairyland of ubin and still trying to adjust to reality :P

take care everybody! enjoy the remaining 2 weeks of ur hols??

a general appeal

hey pple! if you all are bumming ard with nothing to do on the next two saturdays, you might want to consider the following: (copied from an email i received..)

Thanks for being with us last December at The World of Narnia last year. We would like to invite you again to be part of Focus on the Family Singapore’s Narnia-themed sandcastle-building competition for families! We urgently require 100+ cheerful and outgoing volunteers on Saturday, 29 July, 2:00 - 7:30pm to help reach out to 450 families.

50 FACILITATORS

· To help and encourage 3-5 groups of families (adults & children) in their sandcastle building.

· Facilitators should attend a sandcastle-building workshop on Saturday, either 15 or 22 July, from 4-6pm.

60 GENERAL HELPERS

· To assist facilitators and in facilitation of games.

· To assist in event logistics, e.g. packing of goodie bags, set up and tear down, transportation of props/materials to and from East Coast Park.

Come spend the afternoon at the beach while volunteering with your family. Token honorariums will be arranged accordingly. Please contact Joyce at joyce@family.org.sg or 63361444 on your availability by 13 July. We would also appreciate you circulating this to any interested contacts.

Enriching families together,

Andy Goh | Program Manager | Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd |

okay the last i heard, they were desperately in need of volunteers, so if you're interested, do email joyce to ask if there are still vacancies. (and accompany meee!!) sandcastle building is fun. serious. i attended the workshop already =)
--end of advert---

i think my post is going to be mostly in response to damian's post. ah well.

haha from the pic on sw's blog, it would appear that few pple from 71 went back from college day (or am i mistaken?) well, i obviously didnt qualify for it either but i would agree that the award looks... weird. hahahaha i saw my senior's award (from last year) and he was saying that the one given to him by his cca looks better than the one he received for mugging hard aka the award from the sch (and i have to agree.)

let's have an outing soon (though i'm one to talk... and most prob not turn up =X)eh damian so free right? ORGANISE LA. well i didnt go for any faculty camps and all either. reasons are: 1. i hate running ard, and i refuse to PAY to run; 2. bochup. some of my seniors have told me that camps are just for pple to decide which clique they want to stick with, and to (loosely) quote a older and wiser -cough- pal of mine, "camps are for pple to look for bf/gf before sch starts so SDU dun have to work so hard next time" so i guess if you're not interested, who cares. =P

i dont have an issue with damian posting where i'm headed up here... (not as though i havent done enough of it on my own blog)

so yep, this will be the last you will hear from me for some time. (4days) taipei here i come =)

the one with the award ceremony (and other stuff)

ello sevenone!

i was just wondering, for those involved, whether the prize presentation ceremony on sat was fun. hahahaha.
i saw a photo of the award, and to be honest, it looks horrendous. like some cheap, pasar-malam plaque. hoho.
but ignore me, cause i didn't even qualify for it, so you can take it all as just the words of a jealous person. =p

anyway, congrats to all the prize winners again! hope you guys took the opp to have a really good class gathering, cause, seriously, if you guys didn't, then well, i must say you all missed a real good opp to have one.

oh yeah, happy belated birthday to kheng wee too!
i was in genting when it happened, so sorry that i forgot about it. (erp)
so yeah. happy belated once again!

an outing soon would be great! there are lots of people that i haven't seen in ages liao.
hope that we can meet up sometime soon! (i am super free these days. hurhur. plus, i'm not going to any pre-matriculation camps... so yeah. haha)

i was also wondering if i could sort of post a complete compilation of where everyone is going on the blog... cause alot of people are like wondering where each and everyone is going...
and well, it'll be good if we could have like a contact point where we can erm, find out where the heck we are REALLY going...
but i'm not sure if everyone will think that its a good idea... so yeah, i feel (and rightly so) that i should ask for your permission first...
or it'll be better if we just post our own fates or something.
yeah.

anyway, i better go off now...
grey's anatomy is starting soon. gotta catch it. hurhur.
anyway free on monday nights, 11 pm, go catch it too! it rocks! =)

bits of both

i'm home.

about the GSS and world cup ailin mentioned, i'd say they'd get the guys interested in GSS if the sports shops selling soccerballs and jerseys and what have you put up sales too! or maybe the computer games store.
i think girls watch soccer for different reasons. or should i say, more reasons. we still care about who wins and even the moves. but then the way it's played(meaning which angle the camera zoomed in from and how the player looks absolutely delicious) actually matter too!

seriously, this year's world cup was rather predictable at least till the ending bits. and even when brazil lost it wasn't that surprising seeing that their defense wasn't good. unpredictability is half the fun so in a way i think the korea/japan ne 4 years ago was better.
and while we return to our normal lives, we ought to find something new to obsess about.

yet yet another post world cup post

yes this is yet another world cup post about post world cup days. today is tuesday already, why are the newspapers still flooded with world cup news? and i feel very sorry for zidane. why can't people just leave him alone? hmm i think i'm abit bias against italy cause they won germany (and i support germany)... yeah but i firmly believe that zidane must have been verbally provoked...

oh wells about the drooling over people part, i dun exactly think i drool. haha but there are many faces worth catching a second glimpse. yeah like i think it was monday's papers showing klinsmann in the "danke" addidas t-shirt looking not too bad! haha age sometimes does have its charm....

yeah so now that the world cup is gone, what's going to keep people talking? i mean like even my p5 tuition kid was for once interested in tuition cause he needed help articulating his views about the world cup for a creative writing lesson homework... aah the power of football... and just a side note, how come soccer can get quite alot of girls interested but Great Singapore Sale can't exactly get guys excited??

another world cup post?

Well since ger/miss germany kindly HINTED that i ought to do some blogging, here i am, the phantom blog reader who doesn't blog! I'm sure i'm not the only one who checks out the class blog on a regular basis...and I dare say that there's yet another person who only intends to read this post and not blog!

Anyway, so much for the world cup...haha yupz it's finally over and italy have won the world cup! Abit sad that argentina(wonder who kicked them out...) and brazil didn't win or at least get into the finals, cos i think they play really beautiful football, but nevertheless most of the matches in the later stages of the tournament proved to be exciting! Being able to enjoy the matches with your ever-so-nice classmates was a really great bonus, so thanx alot to suan for organising the "lets watch the world cup outings!" =)

But firstly...one misconception to clear...i don't bet loads of money on score! My daily bets range from around $20 to $35, and compared to some other friends who bet with "private" syndicates, it's really quite insignificant. But the money to be gained is not the main motivating factor behind the bets, and i'm sure sw can vouch for mi that the added excitement and thrill experienced is what drives us! (even though i have to admit that i'm quite pleased with the rather significant amount of spare cash earned...haha)

Heard hanjie is organising a night cycling session on either this sat or next sat? Any takers? Lets make it a cycling cum endless suppers outing! =P Hope we won't get trapped somewhere like the time we cycled during our J1 chalet...haha...but hope to see ya'all soon before uni starts, cos i think i'll miss spending time with all of you! Haha...till then, I shall continue lazing around...and keep the blog alive! =)

more world cup news (its skewed)

okay, so the world cup has ended, and so has the dry spell upon our blog =)

as expected, italy won. i already knew they would win, even though i support france in that match and i rather italy crashed out in the semis instead of germany, but its okie, germany did steamroll portugal. 3-1 to deutschland! and an own goal by portugal too. whahahahahaa~ the two goals by schweinsteiger were beautiful. hahaha i know i didnt think the ball went in despite all the cheering ard me (i was at chijmes btw) until i saw the replays. sadly kahn couldnt retire from the international stage with a clean sheet with portugal scoring against him but he did make many many many heart stopping saves from the portugese (i bet those were heart breaking to the portugese fans though..)

klose didnt manage to increase his total haul of 5 goals in that match, which would have meant that he had the same (or more if >1 goal) no. of goals at his world cup appearances as klinsmann. but anyway, the golden shoe is his to keep(deutschland!) and if he plays for germany again in 2010 and scores at least 5 goals (equaling his 2002 and 2006 performance), ronaldo's position as the top goalscorer at world cup is going to be in jeporady. the young player award to lucas podolski (deutschland again!) so i guess its a kind of consolation to have some titles stay in germany =) plus most of the german players are quite young and can only improve on their game so yepp watch out world, Die Mannschaft will be back come south africa 2010 =P

and the reason why i'm going on and on abt the match pple want scrapped instead of the all-impt final is coz (apart from the fact that germany isnt playing) taa-daa! i was asleep. yepp, while the rest of the world was following the ball kicked ard by italy and france, i was deep in the land of nod. i kind of regret it now, seeing that i apparently missed out on some great drama in the form of zidane going out on a red card after some head butting (seriously -_-") but i think it kinda sucks that the 2006 winner had to be determined via a penalty shootout. the purpose of penalty shootouts (well at least wikipedia says so) is just to determine who moves on to the next round, so technically speaking they dont decide a winner, but in this case, there's no next round, so italy gets the Cup. kind of a let down, really.

and if anyone was wondering from damian's post about the people (or person) who "drool over the players, go search out information about their teams on wikipedia", well, you are looking at the author of this entry. but nope, sorry, i dont bet "loads of money on Score!" though i believe you can look in the direction of swim and kw, who, by the way, OUGHT TO DO SOME BLOGGING now that the blog isnt dead anymore.

i just blogged what i wanted to say on the class blog, and now i have zlich material for my own.

ger rocks. =P

the one about the world cup

okay, here i am, doing my part to try to revive the class blog.
(let it live, let it live, LET IT LIVEEEEE!!!!! =D)

and so, the world cup has officially come to a close. 4 more years before the next one people.
hope the whole bunch of you affected by the mania would recover quickly from the sudden lack of matches to keep you all awake at the wee hours of the night (or is it morning? hmmmm...)
post-world-cup depression could lead to people doing extremely crazy stuff, like buying massive amounts of world cup memoribillia, so those who do care about their own financial status, please please buy some tranquilisers or sleeping pills to get your sleep pattern fixed to the norm.

but anyway, i was enjoying my sleep when the drama that is the finals was being played out in deutschland.
italia versus française, 1-1, 5-3 in penalties. hope all the french supporters don't get overly suicidal or anything, but being someone who felt that italy was the better team this time round, i suppose i wasn't surprised by the score when i checked it out on the internet first thing this morning.
so yeah, congrats italy! forza italia!

i haven't really followed the whole world cup, seeing as to how i was still locked up in driving course during the beginning.
only caught two actual matches, the one with england vs portugal, where my team england lost and with their exit, brought the demise of what little enthusiasm i ever had for the tournament, and the germany vs portugal match. (thank god the little pompus big head christiano ronaldo's team lost. that'll give his over size head some deflating.)
but yeah. world cup fever makes people do weird stuff: like drool over the players, go search out information about their teams on wikipedia, and bet loads of money on Score! (another way the government secretly gets some amount of income back from the public)
really funny to watch all these occuring though.

but it all comes to a end now. sad sad sad eh?
(not too much to me lah, haha)

don't go missing it too much! weeee~!

sleepyhead

i'm tired. the world cup final is in another hour. i would very much like to sleep but that means i'll miss the match completely. seriously i wonder why i even bother seeing that i'm not rooting for either team. but if italy wins i get a treat from my sis so i guess italy it is. sorry ger. haha

but all my teams which i was rooting for like korea england and holland kinda got thrown out pretty early. and one of them courtesy or cristiano ronaldo. he's earned himself a really cute nickname in china, 'jia3 shuai1 da1 wang2'. he really irritates me now.

reading ger's entry, one can see that she was literally squeezing out everything she thought of. haha. but i think i'm just blabbering away too. off now hunnies.
by the way i'm coming home.

dead dead DEAD.

our class blog is SO incredibly DEAD i cant stand it any longer. i'm sure there are many of us out there who have been observing this blog and waiting for SOMEone, ANYone to break the silence (i know khengwee have been doing so -ahem-) and i guess i'm going to be the ONE.

well, i couldnt muster up anything to blog about for the last few days. (or should i say weeks?) heck, i couldnt even come up with a decent entry for my own blog, let alone squeeze out anything here. but since i'm here to break the dry spell.. (gee i sound like a raincloud... peeing... er maybe not. crying would be better in this context.. as you will see..)

and why would i be a raincloud? because i'm very sad that germany is out of the running for the world cup. =( amazed that i'm actually following the world cup and rooting for a team? well, me too. and why germany? coz er, (a dumb reason follows..) i was v amused to see germany shortened to ger on the scoreboard thingy on tv, so i thought, hey, that's MY team =P and not to mention they have tall and handsome players (i know loads of pple would beg to differ abt the handsome part) and their playing somehow or other compelled me to keep watching. yea so dont tell me you're rooting for italy or portugal, or i promise a deadly glare. hehehee =P

sigh i see hardly anyone bothered to answer my previous question, so i guess we can leave it as that..

so now that i've started the ball rolling, can others please log in and say something?
